Race Regulations

“La Barocca” is a non-competitive cycling event with the aim of promoting sociality and the territory.

Participation in La Barocca is reserved for cyclists in possession of a historic or vintage style bicycle with period or historically inspired bicycle clothing where possible.

As regards the use of the approved safety helmet, this is the only “modern accessory” whose use is permitted and strongly recommended.

Mountain bikes, post-1987 racing bikes, gravel bikes and electric bikes are not permitted.

It is mandatory to have a repair and puncture kit.

The organization declines all responsibility for damage to third parties, people or things, which may occur during the entire event.

Art.1 Date and Place

The event will take place on Sunday 18 May 2025 with departure and arrival in Marina di Ragusa, Ragusa.

Art.2 Respect for the highway code

“La Barocca” is a bicycle race on paved and unpaved roads. The entire route will be open to traffic and compliance with the highway code is mandatory for all participants.

Art. 3 Departure time and route

The departure time is set at 09.30 am. We will all leave together with a vehicle that will lead the way until the Marina di Ragusa exit.

Two routes are planned, one of approximately 35 km called SHORT – “Corta”  and one of approximately 85 km called LONG – “Lunga”. Both routes, NOT competitive, will start and finish in Marina di Ragusa and will wind along the urban and extra-urban provincial roads of the Iblean territory. Refreshment stops are planned along the routes.

Art.4 Registration methods and costs

Each participant can register by following the procedure indicated on the Registration page of the website www.labarocca.org.

Registrations will close on May 12th at midnight.

Participants under 18 will be able to participate only and exclusively with the presence of an accompainy adult cycling at their side.

The registration fee includes:

The goody bag containing souvenirs of the event and typical products of the Iblean area;

The back race number to attach to the shirt and the one for the bike;

Refreshments along the routes;

The “pasta party” at the end of the event.

Art.5 Collection of numbers and race pack

It will be possible to collect the race package the day before the event, at the BeSpoke Cycles shop in Marina di Ragusa from 10:00 to 20:00 and on the morning of the event from 08:00 to 09:00.

Upon collection it will be necessary to present:

Sports card

Valid medical certificate

Identity document (Passport, National ID or Driving Licence)

Art.6 Awards

Participants who complete La Barocca will receive a Finisher Medal upon arrival.

Art.7 Cancellation of the event

If due to force majeure the event does not take place, the amount paid will not be refunded but will be valid for registration to the next edition

Art.8 Variations

The organization reserves the right to make changes to the regulations at any time.

Art.9 Approval, consent, authorizations

By asking to participate in La Barocca, each participant from the moment of registration:

Declares that you have read and approved this Regulation and accept every part of it;

He/she guarantees his/her own behavior during and after the event;

Declares to be in good physical condition and to have given the organization a valid medical certificate after having undergone an aptitude medical examination for competitive cycling or cycling tourism, providing the organization with the widest indemnity for any damage that may be suffered as a consequence of the your participation in the event;

Expresses consent to the use of his data, including for commercial purposes, in accordance with the provisions of the consolidated privacy law n. 196 of 06/30/2003 and by the European Union Regulation on privacy 2017/679 (GDPR/18);

Grants the organizers the broadest consent to the use, in the ways permitted by law, including for profit, of any video or photographic image taken during the days of the event, providing the organization with the right to transfer such images to third parties. The aforementioned authorization to use one’s image must be considered granted for an indefinite period and without territorial limits throughout the world, for use in various publications and films, including, by way of example and without limitation, promotional materials and/or advertising created on all media. The organization may also transfer the rights of use provided for in this agreement to third parties and to its institutional and commercial partners.

The organization declines all responsibility for itself and its collaborators for accidents or damage to people or things that may occur before, during and after the event or as a result of it.

The personal data of all participants will be processed and recorded in accordance with the provisions of the consolidated privacy law n. 196 of 06/30/2003 and by the European Union Regulation on privacy 2017/679 (GDPR/18).
